In Queensland, Australia, there are currently two groups which provide on-water rescue and assistance. The Australian Volunteer Coast Guard (AVCG) is one of these and they have a network of bases strategically located along the Queensland Coast. Daily they provide assistance to their members and other boaters in need. A requirement of our laws is that their operations are conducted under commercial standards as opposed to recreational. This means their vessel are commercially registered and the crews need to be commercially trained.
Calling all stations, we would like to invite everyone involved in all types of 'rescue from water', to join our online community and start networking with other rescue personnel! You don't need to have years of experience or even be a keen author of articles about what you do in your rescue role, it would be nice to build a community with a common goal!

One nationally recognizable SAR qualification for Water Bourne Rescue Teams.
In recent years there has been a marked rise in the number of organisations offering training courses for SAR teams. The RNLI have there own training programme, Independent teams use a variety of organisations to access training such as RYA, RESCUE3, and MRI.
We are currently looking for new contributors on the Maritime Rescue Network.
